Tube Flies | Tube Fly Tying |Tube FlyFishing
Tube Flies, i.e. flies dressed on tubes instead of hooks or metal shanks, have become increasingly popular worldwide in salmon, steelhead and sea trout fly fishing. The tube fly may be dressed on tubes of many types, sizes and materials. From the early copper, brass, aluminium and plastic incarnations of the last century, the tube fly has been refined and developed to a great extent, particularly in recent years, allowing the creative fly tyer to devise tube-based lures for any species and type of fly fishing, from the Templedogs and Sunray Shadows of Scandinavia, intended for Atlantic Salmon, to the Intruder tubes of North America, developed to tempt the Steelhead and various salmon species of the Pacific North West, to slim shiny needle tubes for sea trout night fishing on British rivers.
